A chance for Chance

When Dr. Brooke McGee noticed her own dog Chance wasn’t feeling himself, she brought him in to work with her. An ultrasound revealed a very large abdominal mass, and Chance was scheduled for surgery the next morning. Dr. Katie Mullins of Acadiana Veterinary Surgery successfully removed a 9.6lb tumor attached to Chance’s spleen! It was so large that Dr. Frugé had to get containers of formalin from Acadia General Hospital to send off the mass for evaluation. Luckily it was benign, and Chance went on to make a full recovery!

We are all so happy to see our Chance back to his old self!

Three cheers for Maxwell!

This sweet Yorkie took team spirit to a whole new level; he ate nearly an entire plastic pom-pom! When Maxwell started having abdominal pain and vomiting, his owners brought him right in. Radiographs confirmed their fears--the pom was stuck and had to come out! Video 1 shows the plastic material being removed from the stomach. Dr. Brooke McGee, CVH staff, and Maxwell's parents did a great job of taking care of him. The second video is just 5 days after surgery. He's back to his old self! Hopefully he can curb his enthusiasm for the Tigers in the future and resisit those delicious poms!
